NICE Leads Coalition Letter Calling for Swift Confirmation of Trump’s USCIS Nominee

WASHINGTON DC — The National Immigration Center for Enforcement (NICE), alongside a coalition of prominent organizations and leaders dedicated to upholding the rule of law and American sovereignty, proudly announces its strong support for Joseph Edlow’s nomination as Director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

The Edlow nomination comes at a pivotal moment for USCIS, which faces significant challenges, including backlogs, inefficiencies, and the need for enhanced security measures.

The coalition letter, addressed to Senate Majority Leader John Thune and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, was released today, urging the swift confirmation of Edlow, a former NICE board member and distinguished public servant with an unparalleled track record in immigration policy and enforcement. It emphasizes Edlow’s extensive experience and proven leadership. As Acting Director of USCIS during the first Trump administration, Edlow navigated the agency through a fiscal crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring the integrity of the legal immigration system while prioritizing national security. His prior roles as USCIS Chief Counsel, Deputy Director for Policy, and Assistant Chief Counsel with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) highlight his deep expertise in immigration law and operations.

“Joseph Edlow’s commitment to a lawful, orderly, and secure immigration system makes him the ideal leader for USCIS,” said RJ Hauman, President of NICE and leader of the letter. “As a founding board member of NICE, Joe has consistently championed policies that protect American workers and uphold our nation’s sovereignty. His leadership will restore public trust in our immigration system.”

The coalition letter, signed by organizations such as the America First Policy Institute, Heritage Action for America, Federation for American Immigration Reform, and the Immigration Accountability Project, underscores Edlow’s ability to address USCIS’s challenges, including backlogs, inefficiencies, and the need for enhanced security measures. His alignment with America First principles and contributions to policy development at The Heritage Foundation and NICE further demonstrate his dedication to a fair and manageable immigration framework.

“We are confident that Joseph Edlow will modernize USCIS, reduce delays, and ensure transparency and accountability,” the coalition stated. “His nomination is a critical step toward restoring a lawful and efficient immigration system that serves the American people.”

NICE and its coalition partners call on the Senate to confirm Edlow without delay, citing his integrity, expertise, and unwavering commitment to national security and the rule of law.
